Millhouse / Bigjobs / Georgie /
After failing to get out and get into the old stadium when it closed, I thought it’d be good to go and check out the new one. So me and Bigjobs went for a look, and after a close call with a security patrol we shot over the fence and were in. The pitch and stands were pretty much completed, but we found inside to be still concrete and plaster, with wires hanging from the ceiling etc… So a couple of weeks later we made a return trip with Georgie. This time the inside had been carpeted, lights fitted, alarms fitted. Haha. We got over towards the commentary box and CCTV box, and there was a PIR in the corner, which we promptly set off. We decided to hang about regardless, but a few minutes later we heard a lot of banging outside so went back down to the pitch, where we heard a lot of activity sounding like people getting in. Time to leave
Info:
Plans to build a new 18,000 people capacity stadium were given the go-ahead in 2008, with a plans to be completed by 2012. The stadium will be home to St. Helens RLFC and St. Helens Town FC. The stadium features an oval shaped roof, and seating and standing areas.
Once we were out we observed about 5/6 people in high-vis jackets entering the stadium.
