St Johns Church

St John's was built in 1834 to a design by Lewis Vulliamy A grant of £3,253 (equivalent to £330,000 as of 2021) was given towards its construction by the Church Building Commission. The church was declared redundant in March 2008 due to a declining congregation.

In 2018 the church was put up for sale for £120,000.
The 180-year-old Grade II-listed St John the Baptist church in Smallbridge, Rochdale closed in 2008 due to a dwindling congregation and spiralling repair costs - estimated at £250,000.
I dont believe a sale has been reached.

The explore was as often for me a look in on the off chance a few years ago & we was easy in.
What we discovered was superb, this is certainly one of the top 10 churches Iv done, I loved the gothic architecture & carvings everywhere, hence there is quite a few pics again.
Am hoping this one dosent get battered but its not exactly hidden away so dont think posting will make a difference.

Missed out on the opportunity to go here a few days back. Stunning building which I believe is regularly secured.

What a beauty. This is what urban exploring is at its finest for me. The past, history, forgotten. Beauty through and through. I thought image number 3 was stunning, but on viewing all of it; wow just wow :)

Thanks jane lovely comments.
Yes it is for me too, dosent have to be a epic all day jaunt dodging security, just a bit of pure history pretty much untouched.
Unfortunately these places are becoming few & far between.
