The Isle of Man once had an extensive 3 foot gauge railway system. From an imposing terminus at Douglas, trains went to Port Erin, Peel and Ramsey. After the Second World War, the system began to run into financial problems, leading to the closure of the Peel and Ramsey lines in September 1968. The Ramsey line joined the Peel one at St. Johns and the rolling stock stabled there was just left to rot.
