Last photographed site on our (pauln, sectionate and charlie) mini Dover day out is the well visited site of St Martin's Deep Shelter. Originally part of a Napoleonic battery it was extended to provide a deep shelter for the crew of the St Martin's Battery looking out over Dover Harbour.

Entrance passageway is Napoleonic

Deep Shelter entrance is to the right. A few older rooms ahead and left

Part way along it looks like there has been a roof fall and some smoke damage. I came out coughing black chalk dust. Ewww.

Adjacent to the battery is a car park and across the road somebody has dug out the entrance to another small Napoleonic Site. Worth a quick visit if you are in the area. Quick bit of searching suggests this was Archcliffe Gallery.

Thanks for a great day out guys.
