Long time lurker, first time poster.
St. Mary's College was a women's student-teacher college which merged with Bangor University in 1977.
The main building was built in 1906 as far as i'm aware, with more modern extensions (student accommodation) added around the 1960/70's by the looks of the architecture.
It closed in 2008 and has been largely abandoned since, with a large fence added around the parameter recently.
Parts of the building are used as storage, mainly for overflow stock from the library it seems.
The building is patrolled by the universities security team but is largely unknown about by the general population, although some students still remember it been in use.
Another report has been posted about this site not too long ago and it has changed quite drastically since, although it is still in great condition considering.
Now without further ado:
View from the top of the turret
View from the top of the turret 2
Overgrown central areas
Main hall. Interestingly, large parts have been stripped since the last report. The bar is gone and the piano has been destroyed and left out in the rain to rust.
Elton
Large sections of the building are long stretches of corridor with student rooms each side
Unfortunately entire wings are badly damaged
Self catered kitchen area
Kitchen again, better angle
Hand wash
Bad water damage, this area was beautiful but I couldn't capture it properly
Second attempt
Cunning prank by security or explorers? Either way it worked..we jumped out of our skin when we saw it at first!
Machinary still in good condition
Disgusting toilets. I'm pretty sure that brown stuff is what you think it is...
First view into the book storage area...you know you have to get in there!
Books (I loved this picture)
Book storage, mostly in good condition but damp setting in.
I hope you've enjoyed this report. I know the rules are strict on posting and i've tried my best to abide, but if there is any issues please feel free to comment and i'll amend them straight away.
