The church was originally established in 1873 in a tin chapel opposite the current building. The current building was built in 1908 from designs by Matthew Honan. Honan’s drawings survive in the diocesan archives. A note on one of them states that the church was designed to seat 500 and that the estimated contract cost was £3,115. The church shut down in 2018 when a number of parishes in the area were merged.
This place is pretty stripped but is mostly vandalism free other than the evidence of metal theft. The organ is intact and quite cool. The decor in the attached vicarage is very retro!
