Visited with REEF, BIG thanks to him for the visit( and doing all the legwork needed to locate it!)
The Home Guard Auxiliary units were a well kept secret during ww2(the 'Home Guard' title being a cover) that were effectively the British Resistance should Germany have made it across the channel.
This is one of many hideouts in sussex and was built by Canadian soldiers. The structure is intact although the corrugated iron is rusting badly and the escape shaft has many cracks in it
Inside the main chamber, with broken bunks and a fold up table:
Bad rust:
Looking up the entrance shaft AND REEF'S NOSE AND HAND!
Emergency exit tunnel (75ft long, 3 feet wide)
End of tunnel
Air vents (from outside)
Air vents (from inside)
Cheers again to REEF, nice to finally meet someone off 28DL
