HISTORY- sunnymede primary was southports last remaining independent school , opening in 1964 and closing at the end of term in 2010 after celebrating its 50th anniversary .
due to the falling number of pupils joining the school and increasing costs and the sheer amount of red tape and paperwork from the overbearing interference of the government education policies put paid to this once much loved local independent school .
day pupils paid £5100 per term , the school catered for 3-11 year olds , the school could cater for 141 pupils at full capacity , the much loved headmaster was mr s pattinson.
until the boundary changes of the early 70s the school was part of the lancashire county education board , then ended up in merseyside to the dismay of some .
THE VISIT-got a tip off from local urbexer friends who had come across this place shortly before , access to the grounds was a matter of a straight walk in from the rear of the property.
the school buildings and the adjacent music teachers house was a very pleasant relaxed explore , inside we found pianos and murials on the walls , we could still feel the once pleasant ambiance of the school and for once i felt sorry for this once much loved school , i would recommend this explore to anybody who fancies an easy relaxed explore .
THE PICS- as usual i used my canon 10-18mm wide angled lens , not the crispest of shots but great for getting everything into one frame .
ENJOY THE PICS FOLKS !
