Hinckley was once described as the home and cradle of the hosiery trade. There were over a hundred manufacturers in the town alone. Today only one works still produce tights and stockings and most of the old works have been swept away for housing. Sadly very few have seen conversion and it seems the council are all too pleased to forget the trade that made their town famous.

Jennings is the last derelict stocking factory in the town. In a couple of weeks it will be totally demoilshed for houses. The recent demolition has created access into the building, I have been trying for several years to get in here!

Inside is typical of a works that served the hosiery industry. It is pertty stripped really, although Jenning's "mock Tudor" office was very nice indeed. The best find was a hidden clock in the water tower, which had been covered over by some pointless cladding many years ago. I had no idea it was hiding up there so it was a lovely find!
