Report - The Royal London Hospital Outpatients Department – August – 2018

Not much to say history wise as we all know The Royal London’s history, Elephant man, jack the ripper, new hospital, derelict old one etc….

So this was a little different

Whilst checking out the actual hospital, I missed seeing the chapel, I was reminded again on seeing it that the Outpatients Department was boarded up and had recentish hoarding around it. It’s a nice looking building so I thought I would take a better look.

I wasn’t really expecting anything special but was pleasantly surprised by the main entrance hall

It was obvious on closer inspection that this had been massively modernised and all of the old building was nicely hidden behind in all. Judging from the audit paperwork attached to a lot of the rooms, it closed around 2013/14.

So I started having a wander around, slowly finding more and more to get excited about. It looks like at some point it’s had squatters or junkies inside as a lot of doors are broken off and there’s a few sharps bins knocking around.

Sadly the lift was out of action.

I found the Audiology department, now this was pretty ace, with a couple of soundproof rooms for testing hearing, and a small fairly untouched ward. The signage in here was awesome.

As I’ve already mentioned some of the signage in the audiology department was great, but the place is full of ace signs, check this lot out.

So this is where things got a little interesting

The basement, like the rest of the hospital still had full power but it looked like it was being used as a records storage area.

The I opened a door off of one of the walkways and found this

Yup, a fully operational live office lol

It seems the basement connects to the live part next door. Oopps time to leave before anyone saw me.

This is well worth having a look at and I will be heading back if anyone fancies it.

It's also worth noting that the hospital building on the opposite corner is also hoarded up and unused, well worth a look in there too from what I could see from the windows of the outpatients department.

Nice me and @The_Raw did this lot a few year back pissed up in the early hours. There was someone in the records room working and listening to radio. Prob security. When we went into the modern bit, damo was taking a shot and the security fella walked innhaha, we’ve never moved as fast, ripped me pants getting out of a boarded staircase too

We had an irate security fella after us and we were both proper pissed up, had been on the cans all night and it was light outside
