Went for a little holiday and got to see these... :D

During the German occupation of the Channel Islands they built a huge amount of defence works. The most impressive structures are the Fire Control towers, these are unique to the Channel Islands - only 3 of the 8 planned for Jersey were actually built and here they are...

Did you manage to get in the two lower levels of the AA battery's at Les Landes:thumb Some great original artwork on the walls:cool:

I was there a few years ago and they were wide open, along with the underground complex's that made up Battery Moltke:thumb

A great Island to explore, bunkers galore:thumb:thumb

All the interesting stuff seemed to have either steel shutters or entrance slits etc filled with concrete. the Moltke battery is looked after by the CIOS and was unfortunately shut on the day we visited.

We did visist some other stuff so I'll post that up as a seperate report :)

The CIOS only look after a small restored part of the Moltke battery!
There are further gun pits, heading towards Les Lande, where you can enter the underground complex. through a couple of entrances buried amongst some bushes.

One of the entrances into the ammunition vaults is just to the side of the concrete parapit.
