Report - Tyrone and Fermanagh Hospital, Omagh, N.Ireland.

[Pacie]

This site was built in the 1800's and its purpose was the district lunatic ayslum! It is currently partly used as a school, local government and small business use.

There is an extensive tunnel network under this site which links the main buildings to the churches and morgue, the last time I was in them there was still evidence of its original use down there ie padded cells chains etc. Unfortunately on this visit a lot of work has gone into sealing up the external entry points to the system (prob as part of it is now used as a temp school and a few kids were up to no good in them).

I will try to get pictures of the tunnels when I get access, here are pictures of the site itself.

The three church's are all now unused.

This structure was completly covered with soil when I was a kid, over the years the local farm workings have uncovered and damaged it quite a bit.

The site is just massive, hopefully I can charm my way inside to shoot the tunnels.

such an amazing site, if only we had sites like that round my neck of the woods

shame about the damage to the tunnels, surprisingly unchavved despite the open access down there.

Do you know anything else about this place at the minute? I have been inside, many times. There is easy entrance as the doors are actually open, although inside it has been renovated as it was being used a school. I have been the whole way around inside, there would be SOME interesting pics but not many.

Recently however new doors have been put on and i have spotted one security camera. So I don't know if it is being used again?

Me and Speed checked this about a year and half ago and found the place to still be completely live. Have you got any pics?

It's not looking good for pictures, as I don't think it would be smart going in anymore. Although I do think there is an entrance to the tunnels from the bottom floor, but as I said I don't know wether the building is now being used. I have heard that there are a few rooms being used as the new school isn't big enough.
