Thanks all for the kind words!

This was one of the last places we did in Japan. You seem surprised, but when I look at these photos I remember having a mediocore attitude towards it. By this stage we had seen some of the most incredible bat-shit insane places that were so overwhelming that our interests were simply exhausted, we were begging to return to Muggle life. I never thought I'd reach that point, but Japan did crazy things to me.

Outside of medical stuff, majority of locations we did were amusements such as bowling alleys, pachinko halls, love hotels, theme parks, arcades etc. Japan is very a consumerist, commercialised, single use place and the Japanese love being entertained whilst also maintaining tradition so if something bad happens somewhere they walk away from it, usually leaving everything inside, and never go back until its demolished. I'm told abandoned places are where the spirits go, not people, although something tells me the fully stocked abandonments are something to do with their idea of single use more than ancient Japanese tradition ... one trip to Seven Eleven and you're drowning in rubbish. They just wont let you refuse plastic!

Sounds like an amazing trip. Please post more soon! The hospital looks like an awesome explore; the shoes, the implements - so eerie.

Sick photo!!! Climbing a coaster is definitely on my bucket list.

Being back in Australia now, I will probably never do an abandonment here ever again (don't come to Australia for abandonments!!! Stick to the underground/bunkers). Since being home I have done a few urban adventures in drains, connected with some fellow explorers, giving me time to settle back into the UE environment. I reflect on the emotion this ferris wheel photo convey; looking at that ride sticking out from the forest as we approached in the rain is the things dreams are made of. I'll get a little deep here, but my take on it is when we grow up, the magic of childhood gradually fades away, usually being crushed and stomped out of our hearts and souls in high school, then after the insufferable mayhem of dealing with condescending, careless teachers and spiteful peers, we sludge into our mundane every day lives of working, mortgage, car loans, rent, etc etc (I personally exclude study because I always found university quite fun)... anyway, exploring this amusement park brought back that intricate childhood magic literally bringing tears to my eyes. Maybe it was the total of six hours of sleep across four days, but all the built up worry, hurt, sadness that sat inside of me was entirely washed away. Since being back in Australia I haven't feel any frustration ... maybe spirits *do* live in abandoned places in Japan? I could imagine an extremely great life in Japan; working through the week, haikyo all weekend!

Great write up, lovely pics.

(don't come to Australia for abandonments!!! Stick to the underground/bunkers).

Is that due to legal issues or lack of abandoned buildings?

I must admit the idea of doing underground/bunkers in a country that seems to breed things that can kill you at every turn scares the crap out of me lol.

Abandonments in Australia have nothing that anything overseas doesn't have. There is still a sense of enjoyment, but when you travel overseas you want to explore what is iconic and optimum to the UE environment of whatever country you chose. Drains in Australia are plentiful, and in case you didn't notice none of us wear waders because the water here isn't too dirty. I did a road tirp from Brisbane to Cairns once covering about 1300km and we did 8 abandoned buildings... theres just not that many here from the start, and what is here, is not so good.

The legal side is nothing different to the UK, to my knowledge. If you're caught on Crown or Military land you're done for good; permanant criminal history, with refused entry into some overseas countries. If you're busted on Government property its a little intense but usually a slap on the wrist (although these days I am hearing a lot more about police dogs) and depending on how far the owner of a private property wants to take prosecution, you can also get in deep trouble but generally private property abandonments are tame. Exploring rooftops and train tunnels here is a thing of the past these days because of intense terror legalities blah blah blah. The only people who do that are instragram kids.

Where people go, animals run; urban environments scare away wild life. We have typical drain critters; spiders, centipedes, cockroaches, frogs, eels, and bats etc .. but the venomous creatures often live far from the cities. However if you encounter a redback spider, you don't want to anger it. The smaller and more "pretty" the spider, the more poisonous it is. Wasps live in abandonments and can seriously harm you so if you see wasps, run. If you're out in regional towns you might get kangaroos and wombats that can be territorial and aggressive. I rememeber we did this prison surrounded by roos and as we left at sundown the big daddy got really pissed off, and started growling at us. Luckily for us we had torches and scared them away as they circled us, like fire to zombies in Night of the Living Dead.

I guess if dangerous animals were of major concern, a lot more people would be ending up in trouble with them and our adventurous activities would not be so consistent.
