Ushaw Seminary Durham

Local and one of my favourite explores. This place often always has a way in (often up on the collapsed roofs) Ushaw College had been affiliated with the University of Durham since 1968. Around a third of the site was closed off and abandoned some years ago, with the rest of the site continuing to be used as a seminary until 2011. Very soon after that the non-derelict buildings were taken over by Durham University Business School and the grounds are maintained by the Ushaw Charitable Trust.

Although I am yet to explore the chapel it's self, they're pretty tight on keeping this secure, the remaining of the buildings were amazing in themselves. The building is mostly stripped, original items and small pieces of history of this place can be found. With stacked up corridors of furniture like pews, wardrobes, mirrors, drawers, safes, documents. And a swimming pool with water still remaining... (although I wouldn't swim in it) The architecture of this building is a main selling point.

Right next to this building is an abandoned farm house. Nice little explore to do while you're there. Had some spooky encounters in this area both times I have been.

Buildings in this area are still in use too...make sure you explore the right parts, it's obvious what is abandoned. Only ever had trouble once here with some scruffs and their 'guard dog' living on the land.

I know, real shame actually! that section always been sealed tight and welded shut, never got a good look in. suspected arson I think, hopefully some of it was saved

It's sad to see the state of this place, it'll be even worse now after that fire. Ushaw will always have a special place inside my heart.
First went around 10 years ago and it was just amazing. then more and more scruffs and chavs ended up going in just wrecking the place.

Probably the last report we are going to see on this place, so thanks for bringing back some good memories :)
