Watchhouse Battery formed part of the heavy defences covering the enterance to plymouth dockyard. Built in the early 1900's, the battery remained in use through the second world war, and was armed with two 6" breech loading guns. Each are served with underground cartridge and shell stores, with the cartridge store being the most protected part of the underground system...
