I had this place marked on a map ever since Christmas but had never got round to doing it, After meeting up with the usual suspects Rookie, Appo & Jimmy in Liverpool we cracked a rooftop then wandered down to the tunnel.

Waterloo Tunnel was opened in 1849 and is roughly 860 meters long, After a short cutting you then re enter the darkness into Victoria Tunnel which was also opened in 1849 but is 2475 metres long and finally emerges at Edge Hill station.

The western end of the tunnel ends at Waterloo Dock and both were finally closed in November 1972 although the start of Victoria Tunnel is still used for shunting.

The Edge Hill end of the tunnel is live so watch yourself for the BTP...
