This is a biggy.
In the space of a couple of days, the following has happened:
There is brand spanking new Heras fence stretching from the Chapel, right the way along the back of the site and around Villas 1/2/3, Parklands, Oaklands/Lakeview, Cavell and Nightingale House. Cavell House is being stripped (at least it looks that way) and there is a huge pile of debris in front of Lakeview and behind the patients Social Centre. There are trucks, a Matbro forklift and diggers on site as well as workmen, two of whom were attaching lights to the rear of the buildings, and one up on a roof near the patient's Social Centre stripping the tiles off. We spoke to one of the guys trying to attach light fittings and he said the place was coming down 'soon'.
Masefield has had the roof totally stripped, and Kipling was being stripped inside as we watched.
Dark days indeed. The place is crawling with workmen at the moment on the west side.
