Hopefully this is ok to post…

Many years ago when I was new to actually going out and exploring myself instead of reading other people’s explores on here and elsewhere me and my cousin made numerous trips to West Park Hospital. Back then I had a Canon Power Shot that’s still in the cupboard somewhere, I was crap at photography and exploring. My pics were mostly useless but now with advances in technology I ran some of the better shots through a photo restoration app and I’m quite pleased with the results.

We would spend hours up there with her small dog, walking the perimeter looking for access, being scared by deer jumping out of bushes, trying to avoid MC Hammer and poking around in the outer buildings in the back that always seemed to be open.

One day we spotted a break in a fence and we managed to get in, it was glorious. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to do all of it but covered what we could. Found old paperwork from ward’s regarding patients daily update sheets. We also found the mortuary by chance after wondering if there was anything behind a bunch of trees, full of slides and mummified rats but unfortunately no slab. Someone on here gave me information on how to get in the kitchens and laundry so that was another trip where we actually got inside.
We encountered MC Hammer more times than I care to remember, once when he appeared we told him not to touch the dog as she (genuinely) didn’t like men especially in hi-vis. He ignored us and tried to touch her and she nipped at him. Another time he escorted us to the car after first trying to get us to leave by a hole in the back fence that resulted in a huge argument about us not coming in that way. If you couldn’t see him you could always hear him hammering away closing entry points. Wonder what he’s up to now?

Wonderful memories of going up there with no clue how to explore properly, taking crap photos and wandering around. Took my husband once just to get external photos, he didn’t get it and was bored shitless. Even all these years later he still doesn’t understand it. Unfortunately a few years later with the kids now at school and my husband becoming disabled I had to stop exploring and go back to watching from afar.

To this day I’ve never managed to get in Scott House, the only remaining bit.

When i look back at some of my editing I shake my head. Gonna resurrect my Springfield pics now

Brilliant stuff, the picture restorations are impressive. Big fan of retrospective reports on lost places. Gutted I missed this place really.
