The tide was high, weather violent. Wandering through the sloped sidestreets of Cinque Terra became less easy to romanticise and more of a chore as we realised almost everything was closed.

As we walked along the cliffside towards the train station to leave, my friend yelled 'NO WAY!'
Looking to our side was the one the only 'piss bunker', as we put it, because that is exactly what it smelt like. It was slippery getting down and we did have to jump some ropes, but it was so worth it to become one with the piss bunker itself.

There isn't much concrete history surrounding the bunker, besides it being dated as WW2, and that many young men from Cinque Terre fought against fascist rule. Whilst the majority refer to it as a German or Nazi bunker, there are a few who refer to it as being either a German or Allied forces bunker. I wish there was more information but alas, it seems the focus is on the romantic side of Cinque Terre.

The bunker itself was littered with bottles and some graffiti, it was weirdly eerie regardless. Perhaps due to the influence of the weather.

Pictures are not the best but we did take the opportunity to do a Blair Witch-esque photoshoot.
