First full member report so i hope this is up to standard!? Visited on a wonderfully sunny morning so i had some help with the lighting! I know it's been done before but wanted to share my pics with you all...enjoy.
The Kirkstall Rd site in the late 1940's.
Bottom of the mixers/driers-these are VERY photogenic!
A different set of above.
Chemical storage tanks.
More mixers/driers bottoms including a cone shaped one.....
an unusual view of the cone shape from the above pic.
Storage tank (water?) on the roof.
Pulley on lift mechanism.
View over Leeds including the 'Plaza Tower' building under construction.
View towards Holbeck Viaduct.
Top of Mixers/driers. There's lots of RSJ's in here!
Another view of above in same area as.....
I don't think anyone takes any notice of this anymore sadly!
Niro Atomiser Control Panel, used for drying dye into a fine powder. The LED's look like they're lit!
More mixers/driers. All around is the devastation of thieves!
A darker pic of this floor.
The Bailey Bridge over the River Aire to where the warehouses used to be....
this was to link the Kirkstall Rd factory with the newly acquired Montague's Field across the River Aire. Taken early 1960's.
I know these are not everyone's cup of tea (i like them) but here they are anyway:
Thanks for looking!
