Visited in the autumn last year, justjay's report reminded me that I ought to have put these on a while ago. I'll leave off the history - see justjay's report for that.

The water wheel that was used to pump out and raise ore from the lower levels.

A dead end.
The plank bridge, which we had to cross. :crazy
Looking up the engine shaft. Going down into this after crossing the bridge you have to walk into welly-deep water. My mate told me to be careful where I trod because there is a colony of frogs living there. He was right about the frogs but he forgot to say that we were only walking on a false floor and a bit of infill. Apparently there's a long drop under it!
At the other side of the engine shaft is another side level which requires a rope climb of about 12ft. and brings you onto this level.
Way out.
It's not a big mine but it's a nice one, unfuckedaboutwith and full of charm - well that's what I'm trying to convince the missus so she'll come exploring mines with me
