It was a day off mostly no luck, with some sites sealed. We arrived at one site to find it demolished and some big near misses with angry land owners at another site, and another close encounter elsewhere…. But this was the surprise success of the day. Bit dodgy as a lot of the site is still live, and there was some activity around there.
The power was on, the lights were left on, and in one section, even the heating!
Finished off the day with a rather crazy night out in Liverpool, with a large crowd from 28DL. Great to meet Y’all. Thanks to OT for the much needed late night beer, and Big thanks to Mr BigJobs for helping me!
Alder Hey started out in 1914 and is now one of the largest hospitals of its kind specialising in the care and treatment of children.
During the First World War, the United States Army established Camp Hospital 40 on the site, operated by Hospital Unit Q and, subsequently, Unit W. American sources commonly refer to Alder Hey as being within Liverpool's Knotty Ash area.
The hospital became an NHS hospital trust in 1991. It currently employs about 2,400 staff and treats over 270,000 children from across the UK each year.
In August 2008 the Royal Liverpool Children's NHS Trust became an NHS foundation trust and changed its name.
In October 2015 the NHS moved the entire hospital into the new purpose built "Super Hospital" located approximately 200 meters away.
