Desperately been searching for the usual historical facts to precede my report but ive been able to find very little im afraid but i'll do my best anyway.
Bailey mill in Delph was built in 3 stages, starting in 1863 with later additions in 1865 and 1871 respectively( as seen in photo below) and was owned by the Mallalieu family who were in the textile business strating withcotton and later moving onto wool, depite abandoning works at bailey mill in 1999 they moved just up the road to valley mill where they remain in business to this day.
The mill originally had its own railway siding off the LNWR line nicknamed the Delph donkey until 1955, the lines were finally lifted in 1964.
