Johnny_Mystery and myself enjoyed our previous (and first ever) mission to Tangley Place so much that we thought we'd have another go. We make no excuses for another category 1 (out of 5) difficulty target - hey, we're new at this and have to start somewhere.
Today's trip was to the former Biddles Book Manufacturers factory in Guildford. It seems that Biddles have been around since 1885 when the set up a small corner shop on Martyr Road, Guildford, selling stationary to local shopkeepers. Their first order was for 150 business cards in Feb 1885 with a value of two shillings and sixpence. Various expansions then took place around Guildford, and they moved into the Woodbridge Road factory in 1979. They stayed there until 2003 when the moved out and relocated to Kings Lynn in Norfolk. Here's their website.
Entry was fairly simple - found a way in easily after scouting around a bit. It was complicated a bit by it being Sunday evening when the chav scrotes congregate outside Burger King with their noisy Novas and Saxos, so there were quite a few police about.
I was hoping there would be some machinery, presses etc there bit it has been fairly cleaned out. The pikies haven't been in yet though - lots of wiring still there. Besides being fairly trashed, I assume by the guys who did all the removals, it wasn't too bad.
Johnny & me made the most of what we could find - here's some pics and I'm sure he'll be along shortly with his...
Here it is - glamorous, this publishing lark...
Ground floor - looks like the machinery went here.
Obligatory fuse box/power room shot - look at all that stuff that hasn't been ripped out yet!
Oh the humour of the workshop floor...
Factory floor bogs...they got more luxurious the higher you went in the building...
Johnny_Mystery, man of action
Quality stuff:
Plugs:
See, it's still switched on. Dont turn it off!!!
Dated 1996...
There must be something interesting around here somewhere...Johnny on patrol...
Faaarrrrkkkk!! I hate it when they fly out at you without warning...
In case more pidgeons fly out at me...
Filing system
More cleaning tools required...
Says it all...
That's it for now. Maybe we'll try a level 2 next....
Cheers!
