A newbie first post here so please be gentle. Im located in Australia but was in the US last year and thought these might make a good first post. After lurking on the forum for a while I am amazed at the vast array of decaying buildings in europe and the US compared with Australia. It seems that once our factories are abandoned they are knocked down pretty quickly and redeveloped. I'm located near Canberrra, Australia's Capital City which was only developed in the 1920s and there has never been much manufacturing around here so there never were many industrial sites to begin with unlike Sydney or Melbourne.
Bodie was a mining boom town on the Sierra Nevada in California. Basically abandoned when the ore ran out it has been maintained by the Parks service in a state of "arrested decay"
anyway enjoy the pics.
Bodie Town
Height above Sea level
Safe in the remains of the bank
Pressed tin walls
Pieces of glass this big would have been very expensive in 1860, note the ripples in the glass
Stained glass fanlight
Potential hotrod project, pity it's in a state park
Enjoy,
regards,
Tote
