British DiaMalt originated in the early 1900's and was once a World-leading manufacturer of malt products, cereal extracts and beer, cider and wine kits.
Following in Newark's rich (yet now lost) brewing tradition, the company have been based here for over 100 years, until its closure in 2006.
The site is built around existing original malting's but they were unfortunately and horrifically ''modernised'' in the early 1990's now leaving only the option of demolition.
It is sad to see Newark's last functioning malt company go, it was once only a small part of a massive brewing and malting industry that lined the bank of the Trent either side of the town.
(Most are now gone, sadly most burned in the late 90's, but the odd few are still standing...just now as ''tasteful'' housing for undesirables..)
Anyhoo, not much to see really but thought it was worth documenting as i was there.. just in time too.
Only problem now is how to shift the smell of malt extract off me...
