Buckton Vale Quarry (Bardon Aggregates) - Carrbrook - December 2010
Visited with ZerO81
This has been on my radar for a while and whilst me and Zero were heading to another location I remembered that this was nearby. Last time I looked it was dark, I had no idea where I was and my Mother was with me, so I put it off.
Well, I'm rather pleased if I do say so. The quarry was involved in Gritstone and Sandstone extraction / processing. It sits below Buckton Castle (Which is a scheduled ancient monument).
Everything here is BIG, from the tracks in the sand, to the pools of ice / water and the conveyors that keep this beast connected. There wasn't really much to get 'in' as such, but lots to see and stand in awe of.
This hasn't been done before, so it's something new and hope you enjoy my report of the place.
This was also my first time using my new Sigma 10-20 so it made for a good practice.
Cheers!
