Trefriw Woollen Mill is a 1970s tourist place on the main road, powered by a Pelton wheel which you can see working.
Up the hill behind is the ‘old mill’, a complex of buildings dating from 1820 which seem to have been defunct for decades.

The sign on the front said ‘Vale of Conway Flannel Mills, Thomas Williams & Son Proprietors’ - the ground floor was once a tea shop.

This one was a quick once round with the phone - it wasn’t worth getting the camera out because what scraps are left are partially hidden by firewood stacked all over the place.

Still plenty to see. The signs are great. The cheese winding and warping machines are very interesting. Great find. Lovely set too. :thumb

I'd also add that it makes you think about putting more effort into seeing the places like this that are still open to the public, its a reminder they don't last forever, and it's easy to assume they will be.

I'd certainly liked to have followed "Roving through here"!

Does look worthy of not being thrown to the wolves but probably a bit late now...

Reminds me of one we did at Penmancho
