Report - Campinas Station, Sao Paulo State, Brazil

Like most large cities in Brazil, Campinas no longer has a passenger railway system. I understand that it was closed down when the Country was ruled under a Dictatorship.

Here a a couple of photographs of a closed station.

Please accept my apologies for the poor exposure quality, the camera (unknown to me at the time) had developed a fault with the exposure circuit board.

The entrance gate was open

Giving access to a ricket stairway which led to the trackbed

Here is a view of the old station platform. Note how the canopy is supported by wires.

You can still see the old rails....just ! Also the old Overhead Line power Equipment is still partially in siti, together with the wire registration equipment.

Looking back along the old railway line.
