Report - Corby Steelworks Civil Defence Bunker, Feb '10

I'd wanted to see this since I saw it on sub-brit ages ago, but it never really got onto the "to-do" list. Recent pics made it look great so off we headed.

TBH I was a bit disapointed, it's quite small and the turntable seems pointless in real life. I was expecting a big underground hospital, why they wanted a vehicle in there is lost on me, there's no ventialtion, so it would probably just gas them all anyway.

Anyone know if this place still exists? I'm gonna be up this way for a few days and might see if its still doable after all these years.

From Subbrit "In late 2010 the entrance was permanently welded and access is no longer possible".

Yeah that's what I saw, and no reports since. I'd just read that it was backfilled with rubble in 2012 too. Might go have a look myself anyway, see if any trace remains.

I wouldnt bother unless your local. As Raddog said all those years ago it was a fairly dull explore!
