Been going here since a kid as its 5 mins from my house and also know the owner who still wont let me in here ;)
wellI went up here last year after not being here since a kid and then a solo trip today to see how it looks and there has been a few more little parts that have collapsed since last years visit.

Ive just been given some info on another local mine that has been closed for 70 years that has been dug out so soon as its a bit drier then a report will follow.

not much history about this place apart from Delph Crisp is a sandstone mine on Crow Lane, Roby Mill in Skelmersdale, one of a network of flagstone quarries and underground workings in the area, dating from the early 19th century. It included a tram road that headed east along the line of Farley Road to Roby Mill. The tram road was worked until 1860.

Other info it was used by the army as an ammunition's storage and they bricked part up from a severe collapse.

Very nice, I was overawed by the supports and concentrated on them but now wish that I had taken some other shots of the mine in general like you have, it is quite sobering when you realise that those supports are holding the entire hillside up outside, great pictures :thumb

Yeah 1st time I went I mainly took pics of the supports but thought this time around I’d show the actual mine as a whole to show it’s size and I still missed the flooded out section
