Is there anything to them other than the antenna?

The transponder cab. Not particularly interesting.
In practice most of the sites removed and in the list to be removed have co-located DME (which isn't scheduled for withdrawl?) so would remain. They have been taken out of service over the past ten years (generally working North to South) so the changes can probably be seen using gargoyle satellite views.

The structure itself looks quite interesting and good for a quick climb if they're not active.

The locations of the VOR sites are detailed in the UK AIP:

The links are dynamic but follow the links:
"Current AIRAC" > "ENR 4"
To get to the correct page

For changes outside the monthly update cycle you refer to NOTAMs (but that's not really relevant here)

Pretty much all civilian AIP documents are available online. So if you happen to be somewhere else you can find out where their climbing sites are too ;)

Military AIPs slightly fewer (though UK is).
