Was out doing a recce on something else when I stumbled upon this beautiful little drain , when I say stumbled I really did whilst taking this shot...
After wringing my sock out , my curiousness got the better of me..
Blocks are usually a good sign that there is more inside..
I could hear water falling both in front of me and behind
The grids seemed to let a fair do of light in so it was never really dark..
The noise in front was getting daunting...
I could just make out the falls through the dark..
For such a small amount of water the noise was thunderous..
It would/will be good to go back when there is a bit more water..
When I saw all these twigs I thought there would be some gigantic bird kicking around somewhere but they had been deposited there by a design fault...
Up another level..
I wish all manhole lids were plywood (how cool would that be ?)
The tell tale smell of fresh air was telling me the end was close by..
Arhh there it is..
The last falls were still echoing from behind me..
Another little waterfall to finish with , I know this sounds like a step by step walk up a poxy little drain but hey if you have never done a drain before this is the the chap for you , features , no lids (yet) and the atmosphere of a real drain , plus no sewer fresh in sight , in fact I believe you would be able to drink the water and the best bit is its not quite underground yet , so its a perfect learner drain
Echo falls was built by Russel Construction in 2009 to replace an old river course that had become undermined and unsafe and is destined to become a must for would be drainers
