Very little info on this one available. Appears to have been abandoned 20years ago.
I have read that it was covered by its own legal jurisdiction.
I thought it was going to be an easy one, but typically just at the time we turned up, there were some workers busily creating a new armoured fence at the main entrance.
This meant a back route in with a 15minute climb up a 10m hill, slipping back 95% of each step on the loose chalky stones, followed by ultimate stealth and having to skip some of the buildings right next to the workers.
Very peaceful location otherwise, with the lovely dull sounding ring of goats bells.
Loved some of the panels here.

Externally the base looks so odd and inside it's rather good. Very cool place!

Was just watching this on Abandoned Engineering.

Apparently the buildings are causing environmental pollution as they rust away and they are trying to find a way to clean the site up

Nice pictures but complete twaddle about security being beefed up. The place hasn’t had any for years and you can literally just walk in through the front gate.
The Kefalonian government don’t want to pay to clean it up, and the central Greek government keep batting the issue back to them.
I’ve been visiting this base for the past 15years and was wondering when someone would post about it. The site hasn’t changed - albeit for damage created by some idiot visitors.

Lol, who said twaddle about security?
If you are referring to my original post then I mentioned workers putting in new heavy gates which you can clearly see in one of my drone shots I posted. But obviously I don't know how far that project actually went.

We had a good look around the summer before this and i'm also surprised if anyone was trying to secure it - it's literally walk in from any angle as there's more holes in the fences than fence. Perhaps it was something to do with the active observatory next door (on the hill top) that looked pretty active and protected in 2022.

I believe it was part of this:-

Allied_Command_Europe_Highband

There's a few more to explore!

Also heard that the greek goverment were doing guided tours of the place a few years earlier, there was evidence of this when we went some sort of room with a projector and chairs

Those gates in your drone picture have been fitted. Seems they cut costs by securing the personnel door in the gate with bailing twine 🤣
