Report - Imperial Distillery, Morayshire - 13/02/08

It seems this is becoming the High Royds of the North
Loads of visitors lately! Hopefully it won't get spoiled for others through careless exploring though

Visited with Bryag on our wee trek, cheers for chauffeuring duties

This is an excellent site, mint as you like, big thanks to Alir147 for the heads up!

I'll not bother with the history, it's been done better by others, suffice to say it's a Victorian Distillery, mothballed since 1998 I believe.

Very Nice pics, Zimbob. You seem to be getting to grips with your Fuji Nicely!
This was our second visit, the first being aborted due to snow (only a couple of weeks ago) as we decided that our snowy footprints would alert security to the access point, and ruin it for others. Access to the actual site was inhibited by a local budding "Percy Thrower", but a bit of legwork soon allowed unobstructed access to the site:

The low sun made for some good shots, but also made some shots difficult

Needing a bloody good polish. Unfortunately , I left my tin of industrial strength Brasso in the car. DOH!

Top floor of the mash barrels, nearly lost my shades in one of them!

Please note the small pile of rubble in the canteen/toilets doorway. That fell on Zimbob upon our exit!

I called it Dennis (hopper? I know, I know, bad joke)

They call it paraflow, I don't know it's purpose, but the massive ratchet handle was soooo tempting!

I told Zimbob to dress for stealth! He was clearly on the understanding we were exploring in custard!
