Visited this place today with Narcosynthesis and Meowmix! :
Imperial distillery was mothballed in 1998 and despite still being connected to power, it is definitely showing signs of deterioration!
This formed the first part of our mini North east road trip of almost exactly 200 miles! We managed to cover Imperial distillery, a return visit to Ladysbridge hospital for Narcosynthesis and also a chance to see the rest of the old hospital, before finally ending up at Broadford works in Aberdeen late in the evening!
People have provided great history's before, so straight on to some photos!
the stills in the still house
This was a shot taken inside the "mashtun" - a MASSIVE copper vat that you can climb down in to! Would have been used to stir the "mash" I think (I've forgotten what mash is!)
roof shot
inside the turn room
some engineer type drawings of various whisky distillery related equipment
looking up the chimney
Oh well... was too late by the time we saw this!
There's a lot more to this place, some of it we couldn't find our way in to!
Certainly a very different explore to what we've been used to!
