Me and Payno, off to Scotland! Splashed out on the Caledonian Sleeper from Euston. There's something verrry cool about a bar on a train - a proper one with sofas and stuff
After a few hours sleep we were into Glasgow Central for 6.30am. Scotrail breakfast in bed, then the next train out to the west coast.
This is is, as everyone says, insanity scale industry. The internal height really is amazing - tardis-like. A great day - thanks to those who pioneered this one. Well worth the trip.
Ground floor, looking up into that massive space.
Ground floor, below boilers:
Tug
And there's me thinking they only made kitchen scales...
One of the three boilers. Seemed to some kind of modular system - individual boiler cells could be removed using a crane stationed alongside the boiler stack. Quite spectacular - never seen anything like it.
No.1, in your face
No. 3.
Valves in the turbine Hall
Guages in the turbine hall
Lots of this kind thing all over the place:
Wonder what this was lined with...
Power out!
That Chimney
The Pier
View from the North
