Found this little place while having a stroll so thought i would take a nosey,
small and stripped out inside but a nice peaceful location.

No history on this site, other than it was originally a steam pumping station.

Lock 27 had 2 ponds either side which could hold a lock full of water,the rise is 8.1ft for this lock which is fairly high for a single lock.
Maybe the pumps were for using/filling water in the ponds.......this could speed up lock operation or allow for a bit extra in drought/low river situations
