Apologies for the lateness of these reports, but I haven't found any reference to these on the 28dl forums and thought it important to have some reference to this amazing place.
There's some more info here about the fortress:
Modlin Fortress - Wikipedia
The whole area is worth a visit as the fortress has multiple parts and tons of interesting abandoned old buildings.
I've been there several times, the first of which I was an extra in a London Blitz documentary filmed at the location. We went back several times, the last one hiring canoes to check out the large grain store on the other side of the river.
During the filming days:
Me on the right. In costume.
Interior where we were filming:
A friend and I came back a few days later for a further look. They were still filming, so I have some shots of the extras too:
The amazing granary/bridgehead:
While walking around the town we found some structures with soil and trees on top. Possibly to disguise them. The locals (a custom in Poland) had decided to set fire to them to clean back the plant growth:
An extra in the middle of the fort area:
A third return visit with some friends. This picture is on the river bank opposite the granary:
The wall around the fort - you can actually get up and walk on the thing:
Inside a random building around the site:
Canoe hire and close up of the granary:
Hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I did taking them!
