Moorcock Inn, Lancashire

History

The Moorcock Inn Hotel and Restaurant, which is privately owned, has closed and re-opened a number of times under different management. In 1975 it was put into liquidation after losses of £97,500 were revealed.

Later that year, the building was gutted by fire, but was then fully restored and re-opened in 1977. Plans were submitted to turn the site into a development of luxury flats, but after a number of years of wrangling, the plans were thrown out and the hotel became known for fruit machines and discos.

In 1984 it re-opened as a quality venue offering fine cuisine and functions In 1995, permission was gran-ted for 14 new bedrooms and a conference center.

The council are currently deciding on planning permission for 2/3 new plush homes to be built on the site.

Visit

To be honest, this place really was not that great, granted, the pub section was ok as it had some interesting bits and bobs left around, but the hotel section was just dull dull...room after room of 'bed' 'broken wall' 'trashed chair'....nothing very inspiring at all, but as it was rather local it was worth popping a long to.
