Been here before with a non forum member back in april 2019 have never bothered to post a report as my pics from that day were sub standard to say the least ! Fast forward a couple of years and having that rare thing nowadays time off work and a dry couple of days i decided to make the most of it and get something done , no doubt spurred on by the Rubber Johnny and his recent reports i thought i would get this one finally put to bed so to speak . Arriving down at the outfall at 12.30 it was alive with people and had to chose my moment when to get in had brought the trolley cart as a couple of sections are very stoopy and its a long drain this ( there and back i was over 3 hours underground ) The start point is on a vier at the side of a public footpath
929283

this was taken in 2019 along with the next pic access was fairly easy once everyone had cleared off
929284

looking back to the start or outfall i got kitted up once i had got out of the first bit of RCP as the water is a tad deep at the outflow
929285

nice curved brickwork then straight runs of RCP a familiar feature throughout this drain
929286

929287

the brick sections were quite slippery underfoot but progress was swift as its over 6 foot diameter at this point
929288

bit of a step in levels here the sound of crashing water was getting louder and louder
929289

a bit more flow than in april 2019 and roaring like mad the sound was really loud ,managed to get past ok without taking a shower
929290

another reason for revisiting this drain was to try and find a connection with the old carbrook outfall ( which I diddnt find ) this old penstock may have been the original course of the brook at one time the whole drain has a old pipe new pipe thing about it the newer RCP sections often run side by side with the old brick built pipes as we shall see
929291

the start of the stoopy box section
929293

end of the box section and a split in the pipe i kept up the pipe were you see the drains cart as it was larger RCP in diameter and drier the smaller brick pipe carried the main flow
929294

929295

bit further up the pipe from inside a chamber had to step over a chain which had attracted a few unpleasant things i shall spare you the pic ! Another shower to dodge past lol
929296

some lovely brickwork in these channels large room with a concrete roof
929297

exited here and rejoined the main flow of the drain one of the few pics this from 2019 that were any good
929298

929299

another split i kept left again following the bigger diameter pipe
929300

calcite build up around a manhole chamber , had forgotten how long this drain was from start to finish !
929301

even split in the pipes this time went up the right one and came back down the left one the yellow cans were lighter fuels !
929302

another split in the pipes i came out of the elevated dry pipe to the right of this pic strange thing is this and tarky had mentioned it before and i made a point of checking it again on my way back the pipes definitely cross as you go down the right but exit on the left amazing thought the old brain was playing tricks on me ! lol
929303

back to RCP then the final section was square box section again you can just about see light at the end which to be honest was welcome
929305

some hardcore brick porn amazing workmanship
929306

daylight the infall then one from 2019 from the outside no way out here
929307

929308

some small steps and storm drain flaps and more empty lighter fuel canisters
929309

about turn here and start the march back to the outflow was a long one but nice to see again there was some condensation on the roof here
929310

snapped this on the way back was a large new RCP manhole you could hear the cars clanking the metal covers thanks for viewing

Good effort on findin transmission slide and nice report on nice n steady. By the way you can get in the way you tried to get out if you lift the grill hard enough
Yeah I wanted to walk it back just to do a final check on the pipes crossing over it took a little time to get my head around that one never encountered it before will eventually get around to getting a report posted up on transmission
