Optimus Prime is a culvert that takes the stinking River Irk underneath Manchester, passing under Victoria Station. There are a couple of nice features down here, including the famous wooden cattle bridge and morgue shoot, used for getting the dead meat on to boats.

Earlier in the day, I poked my nose over the railings by the entrance to Optimus' to see if the recent Mancunian weather was still blasting through the Irk. While a bit torrid, I thought to myself, it doesn't look that bad…

When it rains: DON'T GO IN DRAINS... Or something..

The current was pretty hefty in a good few parts, especially in the deeper sections near the cattle bridge while resulted in a few scary/hilarious near misses..
