Hi Guys,
This is my first ever report.. so please comment away :)

Porth Wen Brickworks is located between Amlwch & Cemaes on the north coast of Anglesey, also known as Copper Kingdom, having some of the largest copper deposits in the world.

The brickworks were established at the turn of the 20th century using Quartzite from Craig Wen behind the works. The brickworks made silica bricks for the steel industry, and were exported by boat in the man made quay adjacent to the works.

The demise of the works began before the outbreak of the Great war, with the quality of the brick being produced was dropping, many bricks were left either unbaked or over glazed. Many of these are scattered around the site. It is rumoured that this demise was caused because of a rift in the relationship between management and staff. By the start of the war, the works was closed and all the useful machinery was moved to another works near Caernarfon.

The weather for this visit was perfect, but for those who haven't been here before.. its a little difficult to find if you don't know the area, plus the path has been over grown with Gorse and trees, so small injuries are likely! :)

Enjoy the pics:
