So, a quick drive from Somerset, followed by an all day visit to Pyestock for myself and ‘Urbanity’
Access much the same as always (i.e in though the main gate, vallet parking for the car, got shown through to the visitors centre and gift shop, before being lent one of those funny little audio guide things
) – although we did spend a few minutes hiding in undergrowth hiding from Security (their hi-vis makes them easy to spot – but I vote to have them fitted with those bells that Morris dances wear too)
Now Pystocks history is pretty well know to most on here (and is well documented on the interweb) so I'll not rehash it again
A great day out taking in most of cells 3 and 4.
A big hello to 28DL member (but seldom poster) ‘Smalls’ who we spotted making his way in (see – we’re better at the job than the real security
)
Pyestock has been well covered on here previously, and so I’ll try to post some of the less common bits.
However, Pyestock being Pyestock, you have to start with big blue pipes.
Not sure, however, that we have seen many reports from inside the overhead pipes, to put that right Urbanity and I followed the entire length of the high one shown below.
Starting with the uphill climb, a task made much easier by the fact that they had installed rungs just for us.
Hungry?
Plenty of spaghetti to be had:
Including the ‘LSD’ users variety.
Obligatory chair shot (OK, I know it’s a stool!)
Some ‘big holes’ courtesy of the epic scale engineering at the ‘Pye’
Not to mention some assorted ‘control room goodieness’
Of course, doors big enough to keep even the most determined Avon Lady out.
And a few more random bits,
Soooo much paperwork and plans left to rot!
(for a sense of scale on that last one - Play spot the explorer)
(he's on the end of the lefthand side high walkway)
Before finishing with the standard ‘explorer-in-a-big-thing’ shot of Urbanity
.
