As it's the season of giving, here's some pictures from this summer.

Happy Xmas all and a warm mince pie to those who I've met exploring this year (metophorically speaking obviously as mince pies are not standard UrbEx kit and would tend to squish ....) :D

Re: RAF Bentwaters - REPORT

Bentwaters is in amazing condition and almost still looks live to me, I'm taking it the people who own the place are enthusiasts and spend a lot of time on care and maintenance?
Does anyone know it's current use or plans?

I think the old control bunker ( http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=2646 - at the bottom FWIT ) has been converted into a museum. The rest of the site like you say is in very good condition, but that's because it's been leased out to various businesses so maintenance happens.

Re: RAF Bentwaters - REPORT

There is a hardened control bunker on the site (quite near to the tower) which was used by the 81st Tactical Fighter Wing when they flew A-10's from here. It's now a pretty good museum and has been refitted with the proper control room boards and consoles etc.

Bentwaters Cold War Museum

Well worth a visit, they do airfield tours a couple of times a year.

Cheers

Re: RAF Bentwaters - REPORT

The former hardened control room is now a museum about not only the Cold War but also about Bentwaters itself and Woodbridge, as these ran side by side when both were operational.
The entire site is in excellent condition, i went on an visit organised by the guys at the museum in August and we went all over, the nuclear weapons store still has power as the MP post stil had lighting a sdid the A-10 combat HQ.
A superb site all round.
