Report - Seafish Industry Authority Building Hull 21/02/09

After having a mooch around this building which hasnt been closed that long I found a comedy way in, so with Zerocool and Kuroneko we got inside to find a remarkably well kept building.

Quick history on the place:

Seafish UK was founded in 1922 in the Shetland Isles off the north coast of Scotland. Originally an offshore fishing and wholesale operation, the company expanded into the frozen fish market in the 1960s, delivering convenient and affordable seafood products under our Sheltie brand.

With expansion came success and it became apparent that larger premises were needed and during the early 1980s the company relocated to Hull - a city justly proud of its fishing history. Seafish UK continued to grow through the 1990s with the development of value-added products for the UK and export markets, necessitating a move to a larger site in Hull with additional cold storage capacity. In 2004 the company changed its name to Seafish UK Limited.

And into the gaffers office.

Some really really nice woodwork in there.

here are my photos from today il try not to show the same as squirrell.

didnt think much to this building as it was just an office as far as i know but inside it has the real feel of hull's fishing history that is now sadly dead. this building shares the same prime dock location as lord line and j.marr and son on the st Andrews dock now a retail park is all that's left of the once thriving docks.

The building used to be owned by "Saint Andrews Steam Fishing Company Ltd"...

Can't find out much about them, except pictures of old trawlers, some of which were sunk in WW2 while carrying out minesweeping duties.

Here is my contribution, half of them didn't turn out so good due to the poor lighting in the building and I don't have a tripod as of yet and Zerocool isn't a good substitute for one

The Heron mural on the stairwell.
