Visited this old mortuary with man gone wrong after a tip off from Brewtal. We never bothered trying the main hospital as we were on route to Dover for some tunnel action. I had heard it was a bit bland inside. Bit of a scramble up to get inside but was a nice example of a mortuary with a nice porcelain slab. The outside of the building was quite stunning as well having a little castle feel to it.
The hospital before it closed was the oldest in the country, well sort of as it relocated in the 1800s uphill a bit but built on some of the original foundations. It was originally opened to help the poor and those suffering with leprecy. The hospital was run by a charity till was taken over by the NHS in 1948. The hospital shut it's doors in 2016 and redevelopment work started. I can imagine this is long gone now.
