I have visited this place twice before in 14 and 15. I know it was getting hit heavily that year but its such a beautiful place that when I got a tip off it was the easiest it had been. So me and man gone wrong decided to give it another look for one last time as I had not seen the bottom floor much. So literally the night before we changed our plans and went on what was of the hottest days that summer produced. We had a nice seven hours wandering about the place and it was nice to see it decaying more, but sad to see a little bit off graffiti appearing, thankfully not too much. The well known statues on the outside ledge sadly had two of them knocked off into the grass below. We did notice a digger out the front and new fencing laying on the ground, and lo and behold a few weeks later they had sealed the entry points and new fence now making it a tad harder.
St joes is a Roman catholic seminary based in Upholland, it was one of two built in the north. The other being other being in Unshaw to provide service to the north east. The first stone was laid in 1880 and the college opened in 1883, the seminary was gradually made bigger over the years, and had landscaped gardens and sports facilities. The college saw numbers decline in the seventies and eighties and it finally closed its dooos as it was no longer viable. It was sold to a developer who planned to convert it, but I think there has been all sorts off issues from local objections to planning issues, any way after all these years its still sat there in its decaying state.

The dorms seem to get more decayed with each visit. The woodwork is quite stunning in here.

There are many classrooms around the seminary, some are in a very decayed state.

One thing I love about Joe's is the lovely corridors.

The library is prob one of most people favourites with the spiral staircase. It's really clean on one half bit decaying and collapsing on the other half.

This squirrel or rat that someone has placed on this window has sat here on every visit.

There are many staircases around the place. Some again feature beautiful woodwork. We had to manoeuvre some corridors to get around due to some collapsed floors.

I was lucky to see the sinks intact on my first visit. They made a proper job smashing them to get them taps off.

This was my first visit to the chapel area. On my previous visits I had only seen some of the corridors and sink area due to the stupidly loud alarms for those who can remember them.

Thank you mate. You should do one, you can't see enough. But your right and it one of the most beautiful architectural wise and can see the draw to it.

Always nice to see. I do agree with BG, the architecture alone is worth the effort. Its so stunning even in a decaying state. Great coverage Mike:thumb

By far the best report I’ve seen from here. Heard it’s a right bitch to get into now. Managed a few visits myself a couple of years ago.

Yeah several years ago as you know it was not hugely visited due to alarms and having to get on the roof. Last time we went we walked in a door . But yeah heard it's a bit different now. But sure it will change again over time

Some really nice shots there, love this place!
They oved the fences to surround the whole building about 15 months ago making it harder, but over last few months they’ve doubled up on security (huts on 2 sides now and more patrols) and put barbed wire below and above the fencing as well as metal boarding the windows and doors.
