Absolutley one to do soon. Either in stages or with a cheap flight me thinks. I once drove a 33 year old eBay purchase, site unseen, from Aberdeen to Aylesbury with one overnight stop in the Lake District and it nearly fucking killed me!

Just added a few photos from Carnegie House and a couple of the other buildings from my second visit.

The roof in Carnegie House is stunning :thumb

Great report, glad to see this site is still accessible. I was a patient there in 2010 not long before it closed and would love to revisit. Could you tell me if it is possible to get into ward 4 and the two floors above? Their used to be a gym on the third floor that was reached through the back stairwells.

Every part of the main building is accessible, if you can get inside that is. The whole place is empty though. My aunt was a patient there, I visited her many times before she was moved prior to closure. I’ve been loads of times since it shut, very surreal seeing it empty the first time. Very sad to see it get smashed up over the last couple of years though. It was a great hospital and she was very well looked after, I hope you received the same level of care.
