A bit of a treat for those interested in slightly secret stuff. I've held off posting these for a while.
These are photos of the long since demolished Templer Barracks in Ashford Kent, formerly home of the Depot Intelligence Corps. A few boring photos but some interesting ones as well.
First, the guardroom.
In the background, the beginnings of the housing estate that now covers the entire site. In the 90's these were fields :-/
Unloading bay
Guardroom safe (sorry for blurry pic)
This is the rear entrance to Repton Manor. For those interested in secret squirrel stuff, this was the home of the Specialist Intelligence Wing, the training wing of the Force Research Unit.
Student's lockers on the Special Duties Course. No surname's and these would have been aliases, so I've not breached OPSEC.
How to grade an informer.
Incredibly this was still on the whiteboard at the time of my visit..
Instructions for a navigation exercise. The students would often leave the barracks in unmarked civilian cars to practice their training.
A shower in Repton Manor.
Safe in the main office in Repton Manor. What secrets were held in here?
Repton Manor still stands today as a listed building.
Car parking area that once held unmarked cars for special duties training.
Officer's Mess
Sgt's Mess
Forward Assault Working Group
These guys used to build sections of prison walls, security fences etc. Then chaps from Hereford etc would come and test them. A corner of the camp was once covered in sections of roofing and walls, with regular controlled explosions. Very boffin heavy.
